Farewell to a Hollywood Legend: Ángel Salazar Passes Away at 68
Ángel Salazar, the talented actor who stole the spotlight as Al Pacino’s trusted sidekick “Chi Chi” in the iconic gangster film “Scarface,” has sadly passed away.
According to his representative and close friend, Salazar died peacefully in his sleep at a friend’s Brooklyn home over the weekend.
Salazar was found unresponsive in his room on Sunday morning, and although the cause of death has not been disclosed, the actor had been struggling with heart issues.

Salazar’s breakout role as Chi Chi in the 1983 Brian DePalma-directed film “Scarface” remains one of his most memorable performances. Who can forget the intense “chainsaw scene” where Chi Chi saves Tony Montana’s life, or his tragic demise at the hands of a hit squad?
Beyond his work in “Scarface,” Salazar had a diverse filmography, including the 1988 dramedy “Punchline” alongside Tom Hanks, and the 1993 drama “Carlito’s Way” with Al Pacino.
Salazar was also a skilled comedian, with multiple HBO comedy specials and an appearance on “Last Comic Standing” under his belt.

His other notable credits include “Boulevard Nights,” “Walk Proud,” “Hot to Trot,” “Maniac Cop 2,” and many more.
Ángel Salazar may be gone, but his legacy in the world of cinema will live on. He was 68 years old.
