Rob Lowe has likened the ensemble cast of The Outsiders, which included Tom Cruise, to his “frat brothers” in a recent interview. The 60-year-old actor reflected on the Francis Ford Coppola-directed film, in which he starred alongside Cruise, Matt Dillon, Emilio Estevez, Ralph Macchio, C. Thomas Howell, and the late Patrick Swayze.

Lowe described his co-stars as “my guys, my homies, my frat brothers,” recalling how they all took their roles very seriously and were highly competitive. He also praised Cruise, who played Steve Randle, for his intense commitment to his craft, even at a young age.

Lowe noted that making the movie with the young cast and acclaimed filmmaker felt “really special” and marked “an amazing moment in time.” He also credited Emilio Estevez, a childhood friend, with helping him navigate the ups and downs of being a young actor in Hollywood.

Lowe reflected on how his interpretation of the film has evolved over time, saying that it “meant different things” to him at different stages of his life. He also acknowledged that the movie has become a part of many people’s lives, which he finds “really special.”
