Actor Joey Lawrence has finally spoken out about the allegations of an affair with his co-star, Brazilian actress Melina Alves.

In a statement, the 48-year-old actor addressed the recent allegations surrounding his personal life, including his divorce from Samantha Cope and the claims of an affair with Melina Alves.

“With a deep sense of responsibility, I want to respond to the recent allegations surrounding my personal life, including my divorce and the claims of an affair with Melina Alves,” Lawrence wrote.

He went on to deny the rumors, stating that Melina and he became close friends while filming the movie Socked in for Christmas, but the friendship was platonic. “These rumors are false,” he emphasized.

Lawrence and Cope, who tied the knot in 2022, share 19-month-old daughter Dylan. She filed for divorce on August 21 after they separated in June.

He also stressed that his marriage was troubled from the start and that he was holding on to hope that he could save it, but eventually realized it was beyond saving.

Additionally, Lawrence hinted that Cope did not accept his two older daughters from a previous marriage, which played a significant role in the breakdown of their relationship.
