Aaron Rodgers Opens Up on Gay Rumors: ‘Disrespectful’ to LGBTQ Community

Aaron Rodgers is shedding light on his decision to address the rumors surrounding his sexuality over a decade ago. In a candid conversation, the New York Jets quarterback expressed his frustration with the way the rumors were framed, saying they were meant to shame the idea of being gay.

In his biography, Rodgers explains that he was upset by the negative connotation associated with the rumor. “I think I was upset at the framing [of the rumor] because it was meant to shame the idea of being gay, and I have so many friends that are gay in the community,” he said.

Rodgers, a four-time MVP, admitted that he couldn’t care less about what people think of him, but what really bothered him was the disrespect shown to the LGBTQ community. “I’m like, ‘Say anything you want about me, but do you understand these people are using this to shame the idea of being gay?’ That’s just disrespectful to all my friends who are in the community who don’t believe that it’s a choice,” he added.

Rodgers emphasized that many individuals in the LGBTQ community don’t have a choice in their sexual orientation, and the rumors were perpetuating harmful stereotypes. “They were making it seem like you’re shaming people for being gay, when a lot of them, if you ask them, they didn’t ask for this life. ‘This is who I am,'” he said.

Rodgers has had several high-profile relationships throughout his Hall of Fame career, including with Olivia Munn, Danica Patrick, and Shailene Woodley, to whom he was engaged until their split in 2022.

He was also spotted with Milwaukee Bucks owner Wes Edens’ model daughter, Mallory, although it’s unclear if that’s still a thing.

Now, Rodgers is gearing up for his second season with the Jets, after playing just four snaps before suffering an Achilles injury in 2023.
