New West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui has responded to Danny Dyer’s entertaining welcome message with a humorous reply of his own.
Dyer, a die-hard Hammers fan and regular attendee at the London Stadium, recorded a voice note for Lopetegui as part of Sky Sport’s ‘messages of hope’ campaign for all 92 EFL clubs ahead of the 2024-25 season.
In the message, Dyer urged Lopetegui to get the best out of his team, emphasizing the importance of having players who are willing to “die for their shirt.” He also gave a special mention to his future son-in-law, Jarrod Bowen, saying that Lopetegui had been “blessed” with the forward in his squad.
Lopetegui has now responded to Dyer’s message, saying that they will both have to work together to get the best out of Bowen. In a video shared by Sky Sports, Lopetegui is seen watching Dyer’s message before delivering his own response.
“I love you too, Danny,” Lopetegui said. “And you and me, both, we are responsible about Jarrod’s performance. Depends on your daughter! So I have to push Jarrod and you have to push your daughter. Are you agreeing with me? Come on!”
Lopetegui’s response has been well-received by fans, who are excited to see the new manager’s sense of humor and willingness to engage with supporters.
Dyer’s West Ham ties are stronger than ever now that his daughter Dani is engaged to Bowen, and it’s clear that he’s invested in the team’s success.
Lopetegui joined the club in May following the departure of David Moyes and has since overseen an efficient spending spree during the summer transfer window.
West Ham kick off their campaign at home to Aston Villa on Saturday evening, and fans will be eager to see how Lopetegui’s side fares in the new season.
