Halle Berry has made it clear that she won’t be pulling any strings to help her children break into the entertainment industry. In a recent interview, the 57-year-old actress stated that her kids, Nahla and Maceo, will have to make it on their own in Hollywood.

Berry, who shares her daughter with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry and her son with ex-husband Olivier Martinez, explained that she wants her children to succeed independently, just like she did. “I had no nepotism. Nobody helped me. I had to learn from the ground up,” she said.

She emphasized that her children will have to “pay their dues, learn a craft, work hard, and make it on their own” if they want to make it in the entertainment industry. Berry believes that if they can build their careers that way, “it’s always theirs. Nobody takes it away.”

Berry, who was raised by a single mother in Cleveland, knows what it’s like to struggle to make it in the entertainment industry. She moved to New York at 23 to pursue an acting career and at one point lived in a homeless shelter due to financial struggles.

Currently, Berry is promoting her new Netflix movie, The Union, a steamy action comedy co-starring Mark Wahlberg. She revealed that her daughter was thrilled to meet Wahlberg, as she loves his movie Daddy’s Home.

In other news, Berry recently accused Olivier Martinez of trying to postpone their co-parenting therapy sessions so he could have the “summer off.” Martinez and Berry finalized their divorce last year.

In May, Berry and Martinez agreed to attend co-parenting therapy sessions to resolve their disputes and conflicts. However, Berry claims Martinez skipped their July sessions to travel to France and now wants to cancel their August meetings because his brother is visiting him.

Berry wants a judge to compel Martinez to comply with their original schedule, arguing that travel is irrelevant since the therapy takes place over Zoom.
