Arsenal have shifted their attention to Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto after negotiations with Espanyol’s Joan Garcia reached a stalemate.
Garcia, 23, was initially identified as the ideal candidate to provide competition for David Raya following Aaron Ramsdale’s departure to Southampton. Ramsdale is set to join the Saints in a £25million deal after completing a medical on Thursday night.
Arsenal had agreed on personal terms with Garcia, but the club was hoping to reduce the £26million asking price and clause. However, Espanyol refused to budge, citing the lack of a suitable replacement. The deal is not entirely off the table, but with time running out, Arsenal have been forced to explore alternative options.
Arsenal are exploring a move for Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto ahead of the deadline
Bournemouth rejected an approach from Nottingham Forest for Neto on Wednesday, but the Cherries may be open to negotiations with Arsenal, especially after signing Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan from Chelsea.
Mark Travers is another option for Arsenal, with the goalkeeper attracting interest from Crystal Palace in recent days following their agreement to sell Sam Johnstone to Wolves for £10million.
As the clock ticks down, Arsenal are scrambling to find a suitable replacement for Ramsdale, and Neto’s Premier League experience could make him an attractive option.
