Patrick Mahomes Praises Travis Kelce’s Unwavering Work Ethic at Chiefs’ Training Camp
The dynamic duo of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce is gearing up for their eighth season together, and it seems their partnership is stronger than ever. With the NFL season just around the corner, Mahomes has been singing the praises of his trusty tight end, highlighting Kelce’s relentless work ethic during preseason drills and practices.
Kelce’s dedication to his craft has not gone unnoticed by Mahomes, who admires the tight end’s unwavering commitment to improving his game. “It’s remarkable, honestly, you see him out there every day in practice and he is working, getting the reps. He actually gets mad when they take him out,” Mahomes said.
Patrick Mahomes has heaped praise on his tight end Travis Kelce for his unrelenting work ethic.
Mahomes went on to explain that Kelce’s attitude towards practice is contagious, inspiring other players to push themselves harder. “He has all the right in the world and be on the sidelines, he knows all the stuff. But he loves it, man, he loves working. And it makes my job easier to push the other guys because I can say look at the Hall of Famer out here practicing harder than anybody.”
The Chiefs quarterback also drew comparisons between Kelce and NFL legends like Jerry Rice, who were known for their intense focus on the little details. “You heard stories of Jerry Rice and guys like that, when you’re great like that you enjoy the process and it helps me lead other guys.”
Last season, the Chiefs secured their second consecutive Super Bowl title, a feat that has only been achieved by the New England Patriots in 2005. Now, they’re setting their sights on a historic three-peat, a challenge that no team has ever accomplished before.
Before the regular season kicks off, the Chiefs will look to bounce back from their preseason loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. They’ll face off against the Detroit Lions on Saturday at 4:00pm ET, followed by a matchup against the Chicago Bears on August 22. Their regular season opener is scheduled for Thursday, September 5, where they’ll take on the Baltimore Ravens in a rematch of last season’s AFC Championship game.
Mahomes says he points to Kelce as an example to other players to never stop working hard.
Both Kelce and Mahomes made brief appearances in the preseason loss, with the tight end catching one pass for seven yards and the quarterback completing 3-of-4 passes for 27 yards. As they gear up for the new season, it’s clear that the dynamic duo is more focused than ever on bringing another championship to Kansas City.
