Jason Whitlock Backs Tom Brady’s Scathing Critique of the NFL
Jason Whitlock has weighed in on Tom Brady’s brutal take on the current state of the NFL, praising the seven-time Super Bowl champion for speaking his mind.
In an interview, Brady slammed the league for forcing rookies to start before they’re ready, claiming that the game has been “dumbed down” and that the development process is non-existent. Whitlock reviewed the clip and praised Brady for his remarks.
“It’s a terrific point he’s making,” Whitlock said. “This game is so simplified now – anybody can play the quarterback position. They’re throwing guys out there because the game is so easy, and because they have so much money tied up in them.”
Whitlock agreed with Brady’s assessment, stating that the NFL has indeed become too easy, and that rookies are being pushed into starting positions before they’re fully developed. “Just throw them out there and let’s see if they can sink or swim. Nothing’s getting developed,” Whitlock said.
Brady also spoke about his own development process, recalling how he had to work his way up the depth chart in college and in the NFL. He emphasized the importance of learning and development, which he believes is lacking in today’s game.
Whitlock was impressed by Brady’s courage to speak out against the NFL’s current standards, saying that it would be “fascinating” if Brady is allowed to continue sharing his thoughts on the game. “The NFL wants you to believe that what you’re seeing now is 100 times greater than anything you saw before,” Whitlock said.
Whitlock also drew parallels between the NFL’s decline and the broader cultural trend of dismissing the past and believing that everything is better now. “Young people now believe that whatever it is they’re doing is a thousand times better than anything that was done in the past,” he said. “This mentality has infected and corroded all of America.”
Whitlock concluded by rejecting this notion, stating that he believes in the importance of learning from the past and respecting the accomplishments of those who came before us.
