**Giants Legend Lawrence Taylor Has Felony Case Dropped**
Former New York Giants player Lawrence Taylor has had the felony case against him dismissed. Taylor was arrested in Florida in July after allegedly failing to comply with the conditions imposed on him as a registered sex offender.
The 65-year-old turned himself in at the main jail in Fort Lauderdale on the felony warrant, which his lawyer claimed stemmed from a significant misunderstanding. Broward County prosecutors made the decision to drop the charges against the former linebacker on Wednesday, according to his attorney Mark Eiglarsh.
Eiglarsh stated that the decision came after he successfully demonstrated that the allegations originated from Taylor’s estranged wife. He claimed that the former NFL player’s wife had made the accusations to gain leverage in their bitter, three-year divorce battle.

Taylor was declared a sex offender in 2011 after being accused of engaging in intimate relations with a 16-year-old girl. The conditions of his status include notifying law enforcement of any residence or name changes.
July’s arrest was the second time Taylor faced similar allegations in a short span. In 2021, he was arrested after living in a hotel for months.

In the 2021 case, Taylor cut a deal with prosecutors and pleaded no contest to a lesser charge of residency restriction for persons convicted of certain sex offenses. His first court date for the most recent arrest is yet to be determined.
Taylor spent his entire career, from 1981 to 1993, with the Giants. During his playing days, he won two Super Bowls, was named NFL MVP in 1986, and earned 10 Pro Bowl selections.
He also received eight first-team All-Pro nods, was named Defensive Player of the Year three times, and was part of the NFL 75th and 100th Anniversary All-Time teams.
Furthermore, the Giants retired Taylor’s jersey number (56) and inducted him into the New York Giants Ring of Honor.
