Vikings Quarterback JJ McCarthy to Undergo Knee Surgery, Facing 4-6 Week Recovery
Minnesota Vikings quarterback JJ McCarthy will undergo knee surgery this week, putting his NFL debut on hold for at least four to six weeks. The rookie quarterback, selected 10th overall in the 2024 draft, suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee.
According to NFL Network, McCarthy’s recovery time is expected to be between four to six weeks, which means he will likely miss the start of the 2024 season. In his absence, Sam Darnold is set to be the Vikings’ starter.
The Vikings kick off their season against the New York Giants on September 8, followed by games against the 49ers, Texans, Packers, and Jets. McCarthy, who led Michigan to the national championship, was one of five quarterbacks selected with the first 10 picks in the draft.
