**Jack Grealish Vows to Prove Doubters Wrong After Euro 2024 Snub**
Manchester City winger Jack Grealish has spoken out about his disappointment at being left out of England’s squad for Euro 2024, revealing he was “absolutely heartbroken” by the decision. However, the 28-year-old is determined to use the setback as motivation to prove his doubters wrong this season.
Grealish, who played a bit-part role in Manchester City’s fourth consecutive Premier League title win last season, was overlooked by Gareth Southgate for the European Championship. The winger admitted that fitness issues throughout last year hampered his chances of selection.
Despite his disappointment, Grealish has spent the off-season training hard and is relishing the “two-week headstart” he has on his teammates who are still away on international duty. “It’s down to me at the end of the day,” Grealish said. “I need to train well and prepare well, and I know I’ll be at my best.”
The winger has already returned to pre-season training earlier than many of his Manchester City teammates, determined to make a strong start to the new campaign. Grealish believes he can use the pain of his England snub as fuel to drive him forward. “I’ll be honest, it was probably the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to deal with in terms of my own career,” he said. “When you’re on your holidays, wherever I was, I saw it. For myself moving forward, I have to use that as motivation.”
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has backed Grealish to return to his best form, saying: “No complaints. His body language, behavior, the way he trains is the Jack we know. He’ll be back to his best because we need him.” Grealish is determined to repay his manager’s faith, saying: “I’m not stupid, I know what it takes for myself to bounce back this season. You know how good a player I am, I need to regain my fitness and form, and I know what I can do personally.”
