Three Macarthur Bulls Players Arrested in Sydney for Alleged Match-Fixing Scheme
Three players from the Macarthur Bulls football team have been arrested and charged with manipulating yellow cards in matches, allegedly receiving up to $10,000 each to participate in the scheme.
Accused of Deliberately Getting Yellow Cards in Matches
The players, including former team captain Ulises Davila and midfielders Kearyn Baccus and Clayton Lewis, allegedly received payments from an unnamed criminal group in Colombia to deliberately receive yellow cards during games.
Major Bookmakers Set to Provide Evidence
Statements from several overseas betting agencies will form part of the evidence against the players. The bookmakers are expected to provide records of suspicious betting patterns and other relevant information to support the case.

The players’ lawyers have requested additional evidence, including gaming-machine records and bookmaker statements, which are expected to be provided by the prosecution.
The matter has been adjourned until October 17. If found guilty, the players could face serious consequences, including fines and imprisonment.
Police allege that the betting scheme led to hundreds of thousands of dollars being paid out in winnings and was headed by the Colombian contact. The scheme allegedly involved manipulating yellow cards, which are universally issued as cautions by referees for foul play, during games played on November 24 and December 9.
