Jonathan Scott of Property Brothers and his fiancée, Zooey Deschanel, are in the midst of planning their wedding. While the couple has not set a date for their nuptials, Scott shared that they envision an “intimate” celebration.

The 46-year-old reality TV star, who proposed to the 44-year-old New Girl actress last August, emphasized that the “main thing” they want is to have a “kick-** party” with their loved ones. “We’ll get the ceremony and pomp and circumstance out of the way, and then it’s on to the reception,” Scott told Us Weekly. “It’s going to be a blast.”

Scott also shared that he already considers himself a husband, as he plays that “role” in their relationship. The couple got engaged during a trip to Edinburgh, Scotland, in 2023, with Deschanel’s two children—daughter Elsie, 8, and son Charlie, 6—playing a special part in the proposal.

Scott shared that he asked Deschanel to marry him in front of a stone castle, with her children holding a banner that read, “Will you marry us?” The couple first met in 2019 while filming an episode of Carpool Karaoke.

This will be Scott’s second marriage, as he was previously married to Kelsy Ully from 2007 to 2013. Deschanel was married to Death Cab For Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard from 2009 to 2012, and then to Jacob Pechenik, with whom she shares her two children, from 2015 to 2020.

In an interview last year, Scott teased that he and Deschanel were taking a hands-on approach to planning their wedding. “Zooey and I are going to plan it ourselves,” he said, adding that they “throw some pretty good parties.” He also expressed his desire to ensure that their guests are thoroughly entertained, calling it a “wicked awesome party.”
