Kylian Mbappe finally opened his LaLiga account with a stunning brace, leading Real Madrid to a 2-0 home win over Real Betis on Sunday evening.

Mbappe had failed to score in Madrid’s opening three league fixtures, which resulted in the champions dropping points at Mallorca and Las Palmas.

However, the French superstar made up for lost time with a sumptuous strike in the 67th minute, courtesy of a clever Federico Valverde flick.

He then doubled his tally from the penalty spot eight minutes later, securing all three points for the hosts at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Mbappe’s drought had lasted for three LaLiga matches, but he had previously netted on his first appearance for his new club in the UEFA Super Cup final.

Vinicius Jr won the spot-kick but generously handed the ball to Mbappe, who made no mistake.

Prior to the game, manager Carlo Ancelotti had expressed confidence in Mbappe’s abilities, stating that he was not worried about the striker’s mini goal drought.

‘[Mbappé] is playing very well even if he hasn’t scored yet. His influence creates danger. Him settling in here is not a problem,’ Ancelotti told a press conference ahead of the game.

Ancelotti also praised the partnership between Mbappe and Vinicius Jr, stating that they were teaming up well and that the offensive work was being done very well.

‘With time, they will team up better, not just Viní with Mbappé, but Mbappé with the midfielders as well. Offensively we don’t have a problem. We haven’t had it these years and we’re not going to have it now that we have the best strikers in the world.’
