Bills Star Josh Allen Opens Up on His $258M Contract: ‘I’m Happy Where I’m At’
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has addressed the question on everyone’s mind: does he feel underpaid compared to other top NFL quarterbacks?
In a recent press conference, Allen was asked about his contract, which ranks 13th in the league in terms of average value. The 28-year-old signal-caller earns an average of $43,005,667 per year, behind the likes of Patrick Mahomes, who takes home a whopping $45 million annually.
When asked about his contract, Allen provided a refreshingly honest response. “Listen, everyone’s gonna have their day,” he said. “I’m happy that everyone’s getting what they’re worth. Right?”
Allen’s answer has sparked a mixed reaction on social media, with some fans praising his humility and others believing he deserves a higher salary.
“I wish people would stop asking if JA is underpaid, dude is making a quarter billion,” wrote one fan on Twitter. Another added, “Class act all the way, luv JA17.”
However, not everyone agrees. “He’s being paid exactly what he’s worth. Regular season warrior,” wrote a Miami Dolphins fan, referencing Allen’s postseason struggles.
Allen signed a six-year, $258 million contract extension with the Bills in 2021, which includes a potential out clause after the 2025 NFL season. This fall, he will earn a base salary of roughly $8.6 million.
Despite the debate surrounding his contract, Allen remains focused on the upcoming season. “I’ve got no problem with where I’m at right now,” he said. “I had my day a couple years ago, and I’m sure someday I’ll have it again. But, I think the main thing is the main thing, and it’s playing football to the best of my ability, and everything else will take care of itself.”
