Former Manchester United Hardman Roy Keane Threatens to Ditch TV Gigs After Fan Fracas

Roy Keane Plans to Leave Football Punditry in 10 Years

Roy Keane, the Manchester United legend, has revealed his intention to exit the world of football punditry within the next decade.

Keane, who was involved in a physical altercation with an Arsenal fan at the Emirates Stadium last year, cited the “hassle of fans” as one of the reasons for his decision.

Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, Keane said, “I don’t think I’ll be doing punditry in 10 years’ time.”

Keane was headbutted by an Arsenal fan, Scott Law, following a match at the Emirates last year. Law was banned from watching football for three years in June after being convicted of the offense.

Keane continued, “I love football, but the hassle of matches, getting to games, and the hassle of fans – I was in court a few months ago with somebody headbutting me – do you think I enjoy that side of it? Absolutely not.”

He added, “The games are fine. Getting to the games, parking up, people shouting your name – good stuff, bad stuff – it’s a nuisance. Being a pundit in 10 years, not.”

Keane, who celebrated his 53rd birthday on the podcast, made his debut as a pundit in 2011, five years after retiring from football. He has become popular with fans in the role due to his strong opinions and unique style of delivery.
