Graeme Souness, the legendary Scottish footballer, has opened up about a harrowing experience in his life – being the target of a shooting – in a candid interview on the “Everything I Know About Me” podcast.
The 71-year-old, who had a glittering playing career with Liverpool, Middlesbrough, Rangers, and Sampdoria, winning five league titles and three European Cups, shared a lesser-known aspect of his life.
In the podcast, Souness broke down in tears as he recounted the incident, which occurred during the latter stages of his playing days in the 1980s. Despite the challenges he faced, Souness remains proud of his journey and the person he has become.

‘I’m more than comfortable in my own skin. I never started off in football and saw it as a popularity contest,’ Souness said. ‘This is me. I don’t really care whether you like me or you don’t like me. This is my story as I remember.’
In addition to his football career, Souness has also made headlines for his charity work. Last year, he swam the English Channel to raise money for DEBRA, a charity that helps people with the blistering skin condition Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB).
