The hip-hop community is mourning the loss of a rising star. Enchanting, a talented rapper formerly signed to Gucci Mane’s 1017 Records, has passed away at the young age of 26. The sad news was confirmed by Gucci Mane himself, who took to social media to pay tribute to his collaborator and share a heartfelt message.
In an Instagram post, Gucci Mane, 44, shared a photo of Enchanting, whose real name is Channing Nicole Larry, and expressed his sorrow. “So sad to have to say goodbye to such a brilliant young lady and a true star. We will all miss you, Chant,” he wrote. The same tribute was later shared on the official Instagram account of 1017 Records.
The cause of Enchanting’s death has not been disclosed, and Us Weekly has reached out to her representative for more information. As news of her passing spread, an outpouring of tributes and condolences flooded social media, including a repost of the 1017 Records Instagram post by Jimmy Carl Jackson, CEO of Change The Game Music, a management company that reportedly signed Enchanting in the past year.
Enchanting, a native of Fort Worth, Texas, joined 1017 Records in 2020 and made an impact with her unique style and ethereal vocals. Although she had announced her status as a “free agent” in a TikTok video in October 2023, her bio remains on the 1017 Records website, showcasing her talent and describing her stage name as “a perfect descriptor of her enchanting vocals.”
Enchanting began her musical journey at the age of 18, releasing a studio mixtape after graduating from high school. Her self-described style blended neo-soul, old-school R&B, and modern trap influences, creating a sound that resonated with listeners. In her own words, she expressed her passion for music and its potential to help others: “Staying in the studio and constantly recording helps me find my style… Other people can relate to the things I say. I might help somebody through any situation, they can listen to me and find peace.”
As the hip-hop world grieves the loss of Enchanting, her music and legacy will continue to inspire and touch the lives of those who knew and loved her.
