Ex-Foxes Fave Unleashes Scathing Takedown of Hornets Faithful Over Decade-Old Grudge

Anthony Knockaert, a former Leicester City winger, has launched a blistering attack on Watford fans, branding them “clowns” and labeling the club as “unstable.” The Frenchman’s outburst comes 11 years after his penalty miss in the dramatic 2013 Championship play-off semi-final against Watford.

Knockaert was livid after being constantly reminded of his penalty miss, which was saved by Watford goalkeeper Manuel Almunia. The Hornets then went on to score a dramatic winner, courtesy of Troy Deeney, in one of the most memorable moments in recent football history.

In a furious rant on social media, Knockaert told Watford fans to “leave me alone” and reminded them that they were beaten by Crystal Palace in the play-off final. He also described Watford as an “unstable” club, citing their tendency to frequently change managers.

The 30-year-old, who has played for several English clubs, including Brighton, Fulham, Nottingham Forest, and Huddersfield, announced his retirement from professional football last month.

Watford fans were quick to react to Knockaert’s post, with some poking fun at his outburst. One fan wrote, “Anthony Knockaert’s lost his head,” while another joked, “Anthony Knockaert has had it with Watford fans bringing up his penalty miss from 11 years ago…”

However, one Watford fan took great delight in Knockaert’s response, writing, “Anthony Knockaert’s little meltdown here is even sweeter because you just know that every time we chanted and sang at him it absolutely RATTLED him.”

Knockaert’s rant has sparked a lively debate among football fans, with some defending his right to speak his mind and others labeling him as bitter and salty.
