Actor Casey Affleck shared a thrilling tale of how he rescued Seth Meyers’ family from a stranded boat during an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers.
Affleck, 49, recalled the events that led to the rescue, which took place while he was visiting his mom on Cape Cod. He met up with a friend to go boating and spend the day on the water. As they were zipping around, they came across a family – an older gentleman, a lovely woman, and a little baby – waving for help.
“We went over to this family, and they said, ‘Our boat’s dead. We’re adrift,’” Affleck explained. “So we thought, ‘Oh god, we gotta help them out.’”
After heading back to shore to retrieve a battery to jumpstart the stranded boat, Affleck and his friend hopped on jet skis and continued their water activities. Little did they know, they would soon be called upon to rescue another boat – one carrying Seth Meyers’ family.
Affleck joked that when he saw Meyers standing on the bow of the boat, shirtless and tan, he looked like a “nautical leader of men.”
When Affleck returned to shore, he received a phone call about Meyers’ boat, which led to the second rescue of the day.

Meyers, 50, confirmed that the family on the boat was indeed his father-in-law and sister-in-law, jokingly adding that he wasn’t sure who the baby was.
Affleck’s heroic actions that day left him jokingly concluding that Meyers’ family maybe shouldn’t be out on the water.
Earlier this week, Affleck spoke about working with longtime family friend Matt Damon on their Apple+ movie, The Instigators. The duo have been close pals for decades, costarring in projects like Good Will Hunting, Interstellar, Oppenheimer, and the Ocean’s trilogy.
Affleck reflected on their enduring friendship, saying, “We’ve known each other for a really long time… We’ve had just about every up and down friendship can bring. The fights, the best times, marriages and divorces and kids being born. Just all of it.”
He praised Damon, 53, for being a “very, very smart actor” who approaches scenes intellectually. Affleck added that working with Damon again was a great experience, as they both brought their own unique experiences to the project.
