Julianne Hough recently shared her thoughts on a Dancing with the Stars winner she didn’t agree with during her appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
The 36-year-old entertainer was asked by Andy Cohen, 56, about her disagreement with a particular winner during her visit to the Bravo clubhouse with country music star Mickey Guyton, 41.
After a brief pause, Julianne replied, “I think it’s because of the fan base. It’s all about fan base on that show.” She added, “He was not the best dancer.”
Julianne was referring to radio personality Bobby Bones, 44, who won season 27 of Dancing with the Stars in 2018 with pro partner Sharna Burgess, 39, despite earning lower judges’ scores than the other finalists.
Bobby’s win was met with controversy, with some fans feeling that the Mirrorball Trophy should have gone to a more deserving dancer. Neil Patrick Harris, 51, even tweeted after the finale, “Dancing With the Stars just confirmed why I don’t watch Dancing With the Stars.”
During her appearance on the Bravo talk show, Julianne was also asked about her new debut novel, Everything We Never Knew. In a “One For The Books” question-and-answer segment, she was asked about her best first date.
Julianne recalled going to the Santa Monica Pier on a first date, but couldn’t remember her date’s name. When asked about her first date with ex Ryan Seacrest, 49, she revealed they went to the Polo Lounge for a private date.
Julianne also spoke about the most challenging experience she’s had to undertake for her career, saying, “I think because I do so many different things, I’m a bit confusing. People are like, what does she do? Does she dance? Is she a singer? Is she an actor? What does she do? But I think I’m a storyteller and I think by nature everything that I do is storytelling, whether it’s through my body, or through my voice, or through my acting, and now through my writing.”
Julianne will return as co-host of Dancing with the Stars when it returns for season 33 in September on ABC and the Disney+ service.
