According to court filings, residents have endured ‘thumping music on a nightly basis’ and loud shouting and screaming coming from Lauper-Thornton’s apartment. One resident situated below the apartment expressed fear for her safety due to the constant noise, stating that it had severely impacted her life.
Others have complained about the smell of marijuana and sounds of fighting coming from the apartment. Court papers allege that Lauper-Thornton once walked into the building management office under the influence and threatened workers, making disturbing statements about breaking people’s faces and legs.
Neighbors have also reported being woken up at odd hours by the loud music, with one resident recalling a confrontation with Lauper-Thornton at 3 a.m. Despite the pleas from neighbors, the music continued unabated.
