Dallas Cowboys’ Star Wide Receiver CeeDee Lamb to Miss Training Camp Amid Contract Dispute

The Dallas Cowboys are bracing themselves for the absence of their top wide receiver, CeeDee Lamb, as training camp gets underway in Oxnard, California. Lamb’s decision to hold out comes as he seeks a lucrative contract extension, which has yet to materialize this offseason.

Currently, Lamb is entering the final year of his deal, which will pay him approximately $18 million. Despite being one of the team’s most valuable players, Lamb’s contract negotiations have stalled, leading to his decision to miss training camp.

Last season, Lamb led the NFC with an impressive 1,749 receiving yards, just 50 shy of league-leader Tyreek Hill. He also dominated the NFL with 135 receptions, 16 ahead of Hill and Amon-Ra St. Brown, who were tied for second.

Lamb is expected to hold out of Cowboys training camp while he hopes for a new contract

Lamb’s holdout only adds to the pressure on the Cowboys, who are under intense scrutiny to perform. Quarterback Dak Prescott is also entering the final year of his contract, and he’s expected to demand a hefty sum of up to $70 million per year in his new deal.

Despite Prescott’s impressive stats, the Cowboys have failed to advance beyond the Divisional round of the playoffs under his leadership. Lamb, meanwhile, has been vocal about his desire for a significant pay raise, along with fellow receivers Justin Jefferson and Brandon Aiyuk.

Jefferson was the only one of the trio to receive a new contract this offseason, while Aiyuk reportedly asked for a trade last week. However, he is expected to report to training camp with the San Francisco 49ers.

The Cowboys finished last season with a 12-5 record but were soundly defeated by the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round. With Lamb’s holdout and Prescott’s contract negotiations looming, the team faces an uncertain future.
