Jamie Chung and Bryan Greenberg are celebrating a major milestone: nearly nine years of marriage. As they approach their anniversary, they’re reflecting on what’s kept them strong and united over the years.
In an exclusive interview, Chung, 41, opened up about the valuable lessons she’s learned since marrying Greenberg, 46, in 2015. “Having kids has taught us so much about ourselves and our relationship,” she said, referring to their 2-year-old twin boys. “Communication is key, and therapy has been a game-changer for us. It’s amazing how much we’ve grown as individuals and as a couple.”
Raising their sons has forced Chung and Greenberg to re-examine their communication style. “Coming from a Korean family, we didn’t talk about our feelings much,” Chung explained. “But breaking that cycle and making sure our kids understand us has been a total 180. It’s all about explaining things, checking in, and validating their feelings.”
Despite their growth, Chung and Greenberg acknowledge that they still face challenges. “When things get tough, we remind ourselves to push through,” Chung said. “It’s all about growing and evolving as individuals and as a couple.” Greenberg added, “We always say, ‘same team.’ We keep that in mind, especially during conflicts. If we’re not on the same team, it feels like we’re digging in.”
Knowing how to work together has come in handy for the couple, both personally and professionally. They recently teamed up on Junction, which Greenberg directed and starred in, along with Chung.
Though Chung admits her husband has helped her land some of her “best gigs” by directing her at home ahead of auditions, things were different on set: “On a set, I don’t like not being the boss.” For his part, Greenberg hopes to work with his wife again. “I would put her in anything and everything. She’s the type of actor that you can just give one adjustment to and she takes the note perfectly.”
In the meantime, the couple has partnered with Eyebuydirect, the leading online retailer for eyewear that recently launched the Eco-Friendly Collection Attributes. They have different reasons for vouching for the new collection (Chung says they’re “perfect” for active people like themselves, while Greenberg appreciates that they’re conveniently unisex) but they both agree that their favorite thing about the brand is that it pays it forward: “For every prescription [pair] bought, they donate to a community in need.” Added bonus? “They look cool!”
