Billy Ray Cyrus is standing by his words after leaked audio from a heated argument with his estranged wife, Firerose, surfaced online. The 62-year-old musician took to Instagram to address the drama, saying he was at his “wit’s end” and felt like Firerose was trying to take control of his life and career.
“I saw before my very own eyes, everything I thought I knew about her, was a lie,” Cyrus wrote, sharing a photo of a rose surrounded by flames. “She was trying to take over my career, my life and usurp the Cyrus name for her own gain.”
In the leaked audio, Cyrus and Firerose, 37, can be heard arguing about the timing of one of his performances. The conversation quickly escalates, with Cyrus calling Firerose a “selfish b—h” and accusing her of being “dumb” and “not real smart.”
The musician also brought up his children in the argument, making a comment about the “devil’s a skank,” although it’s unclear who he was referring to.
Cyrus and Firerose started dating in 2021 after collaborating on a song, but their relationship quickly turned sour. The musician filed for an annulment last month, citing irreconcilable differences and “inappropriate marital conduct.”
