Andy Reid’s Hilarious Reaction to Patrick Mahomes’ Behind-the-Back Pass to Travis Kelce Revealed in New NFL Hot-Mic Clip
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is known for his laid-back approach to play-calling, and a recent hot-mic clip from a preseason game against the Detroit Lions has given fans a glimpse into his unflappable demeanor.
In the clip, quarterback Patrick Mahomes is seen making an incredible behind-the-back pass to tight end Travis Kelce, and Reid’s reaction is priceless. While many coaches might be shocked or even upset by such an unconventional play, Reid appears completely unfazed, simply asking his assistant coaches, “Where we at? Ok. Let’s go.”

Fans online were quick to praise Reid’s nonchalance, with one joking, “Right back to the Cheescake Factory Meny playsheet, never change Andy.” Another added, “teammates going crazy, [Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt] Nagy with a little smirk and grin. big red [Reid] – unfazed and unbothered.”
Mahomes has a reputation for making audacious throws during games, including no-look throws and passes while parallel to the ground as he’s being sacked. This behind-the-back pass, however, was a new one, even for him.
The pass didn’t take long to go viral, with Jason Kelce, Travis’s brother and a retired Eagles center, tweeting, “The son of a gun actually did it!”
Kansas City mayor Quinton Lucas also weighed in, tweeting, “That was unnecessary, but beautiful!”
The Chiefs will host the Chicago Bears in their preseason finale on Friday, although it’s unlikely that Mahomes will see much, if any, playing time.
