Mecole Hardman Jnr, who recently re-signed with the Chiefs on a one-year deal, was also present at practice, donning his familiar No. 17 jersey. However, wide receiver Xavier Worthy remained absent as he works his way back from a hamstring injury.

Kansas City’s defensive coordinator, Steve Spagnuolo, was the first to speak out about the incident on Thursday. “Let me say this before I say anything, I’m thinking about BJ right now,” Spagnuolo volunteered before taking questions from reporters. “It was scary. I think the guys were a little bit scared, I know I was. But a lot of praying and [head athletic trainer] Rick [Burkholder] and his staff did a terrific job.”
