Chiefs General Manager Reveals How He Found Out About Travis Kelce’s Surprise Cameo with Taylor Swift
Kansas City Chiefs general manager Brett Veach has opened up about Travis Kelce’s unexpected appearance on stage with Taylor Swift during her Eras Tour in London, revealing how key figures in the organization found out about the surprise cameo.
In June, the tight end made a surprise appearance alongside Swift at Wembley, joining her on stage for a performance of “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.” Many fans didn’t immediately recognize Kelce, who was dressed in a top hat and tuxedo.
Neither Veach nor anyone in Kansas City knew Kelce would appear on stage. Veach was on a family vacation when his phone started blowing up with text messages.

Veach began to wonder if something had happened to one of his players or if someone in the organization needed his help. Instead, Kelce was carrying Swift on stage in front of 90,000 fans in London.
‘He’s a showman,’ Veach said. ‘He has just a natural gift of being able to perform in front of people. Obviously, we get the most benefit when he’s doing it on Sundays.’
Veach added: ‘It’s funny because when you see those clips with him on tour with Taylor, it looks as if he was a part of that show for months. But it was that one day, and he just looks natural. It’s a gift he has.’

Kelce later revealed how his cameo came about, telling his brother Jason on their New Heights Podcast: ‘She found the perfect part of the show for me to come in… it’s such a fun, playful part of the show.’
‘It was the perfect time for me to go up there and just be a ham and have some fun and try to get everybody excited for the rest of the show. It was awesome,’ Kelce added.
Kelce continued: ‘That moment was pretty jarring. I was just like: ‘Oh s***!’ You don’t realize how big that damn stage is. I didn’t disappoint Taylor. That’s all that really matters.’
Kelce is now back in Kansas City preparing for the start of the new NFL season, which kicks off with the Chiefs against the Baltimore Ravens on September 5.
