Chiefs rookie Kingsley Suamataia has opened up about his experience with tight end Travis Kelce, describing him as an “older brother” who has taken him under his wing since being drafted by the reigning Super Bowl champions.
Suamataia, 21, spoke highly of Kelce during training camp on Tuesday, saying, “Travis is a funny guy. It feels like an older brother relationship that I have with him. He kind of took me under his wing when I first got here. It’s real nice having him, having that role model.”
The offensive tackle out of BYU also noted that Kelce is familiar with his Polynesian culture, stating, “He understands the Polynesian culture, where I’m from and how we love hard. That’s how he plays and how he shows it out there on the field.”

Suamataia was drafted by the Chiefs in the second round at No. 63, with ESPN describing him as having “inconsistent” tape but with an “impressive” ceiling. The 6-foot-5, 326-pounder was ranked 74th overall by ESPN.
Kelce, meanwhile, is entering his 12th season with the Chiefs, solidifying his role as a leader on the team. Suamataia praised Kelce’s understanding of his culture, saying, “He knows a bit of my culture. He understands where I’m from and how we love hard.”

Kelce has been in the news recently for his high-profile relationship with Taylor Swift, which began last summer after he attended her concert at Arrowhead Stadium. Swift later revealed that they had been dating under the radar before making their relationship public at a Chiefs-Bears game last September.
