Celtic are once again considering signing Horatiu Moldovan as they seek a new goalkeeper following Joe Hart’s retirement. The Scottish champions were linked with the 26-year-old Romanian in January during his time with Rapid Bucharest, but he ultimately chose to join Atletico Madrid.

However, Moldovan’s move to the Spanish capital has not gone as planned, with the keeper struggling for playing time behind the established Jan Oblak. This has led to Moldovan expressing his desire to leave Atletico, stating his intention to seek regular football elsewhere.

Celtic could provide the ideal opportunity for Moldovan to revive his career, and there are even unconfirmed reports from Spain suggesting a potential bid from the Glasgow club. Moldovan has certainly not been shy about expressing his unhappiness at Atletico, going as far as to state his desire to leave the club in no uncertain terms.

According to Moldovan, “I want to leave Atletico Madrid in the summer or winter… I don’t know if I’ll leave now. It depends on what opportunities arise. But I definitely want to leave and play… We will see what offers appear. You can’t reject [an offer from Atletico]. But I want to play.”
