After more than four years of dating, Olivia Culpo and Christian McCaffrey, star running back for the San Francisco 49ers, have officially tied the knot. The couple exchanged vows on Saturday, June 29, in a picturesque church setting in Watch Hill, Rhode Island, as reported by Vogue.
Culpo, 32, and McCaffrey, 28, shared their joy and reflected on the significance of their special day. “It’s more than just a commitment,” Culpo, who looked radiant in a Dolce & Gabbana ball gown, told Vogue. “It’s a covenant. It marks the beginning of a lifelong journey together and symbolizes the union and bond between two people who are deeply in love.”
The road to this happy occasion began in June 2019 when Culpo, following her split from Danny Amendola, was introduced to McCaffrey through mutual friends. The couple made their relationship public in February 2020, and since then, they have been a source of support and strength for each other.
On Valentine’s Day in 2020, Culpo expressed her heartfelt sentiments on Instagram, writing, “Happy Valentine’s Day to my best friend. You’ve transformed my life and shown me a love I never thought possible. My answered prayer, you are.” McCaffrey reciprocated with a series of photos of the couple, captioning them, “Never a dull moment with you. Happy Valentine’s Day.”
In a candid Instagram post in June 2022, Culpo revealed that she was initially hesitant about entering a new relationship when she first met McCaffrey. “I wasn’t looking for love,” she wrote. “But I’m so grateful I took a chance and let love in. You are the epitome of strength and humility, and you’ve restored my faith in love.”
The couple’s strong foundation of understanding and mutual respect has been key to navigating their busy careers and maintaining a healthy relationship. “We’re both very understanding of each other’s schedules and the demands of our professions,” Culpo shared with Us Weekly. “That mutual understanding goes a long way in making our relationship work.”
In April 2023, after three years of dating, the couple took the next step in their relationship and became engaged. Culpo has been a constant source of support for McCaffrey, cheering him on during Super Bowl LVIII, just four months before their wedding. Although the 49ers fell short against the Kansas City Chiefs, Culpo expressed her pride and gratitude in a heartfelt TikTok video, celebrating McCaffrey’s dedication and talent.
“My heart is brimming with emotions,” she wrote. “While I’m sad about the outcome, I’m also incredibly grateful to witness someone I love pursuing their passion with such heart and soul. Christian, you are a champion in my eyes, and I’m so proud of you. Thank you all for your love and support this year.”
