Blues Trio to Skip US Trip Amid Summer of Uncertainty, While Argentine Star Gets Second Chance

Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher, and Marc Cucurella to Miss Chelsea’s US Tour

Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher, and Marc Cucurella, the trio of Euro 2024 finalists, will not be joining Chelsea’s squad in the United States for their preseason tour. The three players have been given an extended break after the Euro 2024 final, and the club has decided not to bring them out to begin training with new head coach Enzo Maresca ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.

Marc Cucurella played the full 90 minutes in the Euro 2024 final, assisting the winner that defeated England. The club considered flying them out for the latter stages of the tour, but ultimately decided it was best for them to return to Cobham to work with coaches and await their teammates’ return.

The change in time zones was a significant factor in the club’s decision, as it could have been more of a hindrance than a help. Instead, the three players will link up with the side back in London later in August.

Cole Palmer, meanwhile, has already started his offseason training, hitting the gym with his personal trainer just days after England’s Euro 2024 final defeat. Conor Gallagher is another England’s Euros player who won’t be on the USA tour.

Enzo Fernandez, on the other hand, is expected to join Chelsea’s USA tour on Monday, despite sparking a racism storm following the Copa America final won by Argentina. His arrival is expected to be met with controversy, but the club will need to address the issue head-on.

Chelsea have four more games in the USA, including matches against Celtic, Club America, Manchester City, and Real Madrid. The Blues will face Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic at Notre Dame Stadium, Indiana, before crisscrossing the USA for their remaining matches.

Despite the controversy surrounding Enzo Fernandez, the club will be hoping to put the incident behind them and focus on their preseason preparations. With a new head coach at the helm, Chelsea will be looking to make a strong start to the season.
