A former Chelsea player has voiced his discontent with the way the club is being run, labeling the current state of affairs a ‘disgrace’. The Blues have spent over £1 billion on transfers since Todd Boehly’s consortium took over in 2022, but results have continued to deteriorate, with the team finishing comfortably outside the top four in each of the last two seasons.
Frank Leboeuf, who played for Chelsea between 1996 and 2001, expressed his disappointment with the club’s current state, citing the lack of experienced players as a major issue. He believes that the team’s focus on recruiting young players is a mistake and that they will never win the Premier League unless they bring in more seasoned stars.

Leboeuf’s comments come after Chelsea’s underwhelming pre-season performances, which saw them held to a 2-2 draw by Wrexham and lose 4-1 to Celtic. The team finally secured a win against Club America on Wednesday, but Leboeuf remains unconvinced that they have what it takes to succeed in the Premier League.

Chelsea’s new manager, Enzo Maresca, has a tough task ahead of him, with the team’s lack of experienced stars being a significant concern. Leboeuf believes that the team’s focus on youth development is a mistake and that they need to bring in more established players if they want to succeed.
The Blues have three more pre-season matches against Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Inter Milan before they host City in their opening Premier League match on August 18.
