Blues Eye Fresh Face to Rival Sanchez Between the Sticks

Chelsea FC’s Transfer Market Moves: A New Goalkeeper on the Horizon?

  • Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Tosin Adarabioyo have already joined the Blues

Chelsea FC is reportedly seeking to sign a new goalkeeper to challenge Robert Sanchez’s position as the No 1 goalkeeper. According to sources, the club has accelerated its plans to find a suitable candidate who can push Sanchez for the top spot.

Sanchez, the former Brighton shot-stopper, is expected to start the season as Enzo Maresca’s first-choice goalkeeper. However, this development casts doubt over the immediate future of Djordje Petrovic, who impressed under Mauricio Pochettino last season.

Maresca is said to be a fan of Sanchez’s ability to play out from the back, but believes there is a significant gap between him and Petrovic. In response, the club has stepped up its search for a new goalkeeper who can compete with Sanchez.

Reports have linked the Blues with Real Madrid’s Andriy Lunin, but he does not fit the profile of the goalkeeper Maresca is looking for.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are also in talks to sign former Manchester United star Andreas Pereira, with a verbal agreement in place that would allow him to leave Fulham if an acceptable offer is made.

The Blues have already been active in the transfer market, signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester for £30million and Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer from Fulham. Omari Kellyman, Marc Guiu, and Renato Veiga have also joined the club.
