ABC has made history, not once, but twice this week. The network has surprised its viewers by announcing the next season’s The Bachelor lead much earlier than expected. Moreover, it has revealed that the new lead, Grant Ellis, is only the second African-American to hold this title.
The 30-year-old day trader was eliminated by Jenn Tran on The Bachelorette, but now he’s getting a second chance at finding love. As producer Robert Mills tweeted, the early announcement is to give potential contestants enough time to apply for the show.

In a recent Good Morning America appearance, Ellis shared what he’s looking for in a partner. “I’m seeking a love that’s kind and understanding. My ideal match is someone who’s adventurous, affectionate, and loving,” he said.
According to an ABC press release, Ellis is “eager to embark on a journey filled with romance, adventure, and genuine connections” and hopes to find a partner who shares his values of loyalty, humor, and a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.

On The Bachelorette, Ellis confessed that he was falling for Tran, but unfortunately, he was sent home a week before the hometown-date episode. “I poured everything out, and it wasn’t good enough,” he said, adding that it “just sucks knowing that you feel some way about somebody, and they don’t feel the same about you.”
However, Ellis will now have the opportunity to take control of his own romantic journey when The Bachelor premieres in early 2025.

In a previous interview with Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt on the Bachelor Happy Hour Podcast, Ellis mentioned that his favorite thing about Tran was “her ability to make a situation easy and how she lights up the room and how witty she is.”
Here are a few interesting facts about Grant Ellis:

- As a day trader, Ellis is passionate about his career, but in his free time, he enjoys watching the Lakers, going bowling, and singing karaoke.
