Liverpool Undergoing a ‘Reset’ Under New Boss Arne Slot After Jurgen Klopp’s Departure
Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan has revealed that the club is undergoing a significant “reset” following Jurgen Klopp’s departure at the end of last season. The German manager’s decision to leave Anfield after nearly nine years in charge has sparked a major overhaul of the coaching staff and executives.
Hogan believes that Klopp’s departure has provided an opportunity for the club to refresh and revitalize itself. “Jurgen departing was a seismic decision, but clearly the right decision for him and his family, so by extension the right decision for the club,” he said in an interview with the BBC.
The Reds have made significant changes to their personnel off the pitch, with Michael Edwards and Julian Ward returning in more senior roles. Richard Hughes has begun his new role as the club’s sporting director, working closely with Slot to improve the playing staff.
Liverpool fans got their first glimpse of life under Slot in their pre-season game against Real Betis in the United States last week. The match showcased noticeable differences in approach, with midfielder Harvey Elliot describing Slot’s style as “elegant” and “Dutch-like.”
The players are excited about the change in approach, with Elliot saying that the team is “thrilled” to be playing a more possession-based game. “It’s very elegant, Dutch style, it’s very nice. The style of play is a lot different. It’s more about in possession now,” he said.
Liverpool will continue their pre-season tour of the US with a clash against Arsenal in Philadelphia, followed by a match against Manchester United in South Carolina on August 4.
