Newcastle United are close to finalizing a deal to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace, with the transfer fee expected to exceed £60 million.
Guehi, 24, was a standout performer for Palace last season, captaining the side on occasion and recovering from a knee injury to be named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024.
After an injury saw Harry Maguire miss out on England’s final 26-man squad, Guehi established himself as the preferred partner for John Stones and was a key component as England reached the final.
A report suggests that Guehi’s future may well be away from Selhurst Park, with Newcastle close to finalizing a deal worth in excess of £60 million.
Newcastle are reportedly close to agreeing a deal to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace
Personal terms are reportedly not set to prove a problem in the deal getting over the line, with Guehi said to be keen on joining Eddie Howe’s side this summer.
The move for Guehi serves as a statement of intent from the Magpies after Howe cast doubt over his future at the club following a major overhaul of the club’s backroom staff.
The move would represent a major coup for Eddie Howe’s side and could be completed by the weekend.

Should Guehi agree to a move to St James’ Park, he would join Odysseas Vlachodimos, Lloyd Kelly, Lewis Hall, John Ruddy, and Miodrag Pivas as the club’s new arrivals this summer.
Newcastle return to competitive action when they play host to Southampton in their Premier League opener next Saturday.
