John Mayer has announced to his fans that he’s currently recovering from an injury, but that won’t stop him from taking the stage in Las Vegas tonight. The 46-year-old musician, who recently rekindled his romance with 24-year-old Mad Men star Kiernan Shipka, shared a photo of his injured left index finger on Instagram.
The post revealed that the injury occurred last week, but Mayer has found a way to adapt and continue performing with Dead & Company at The Sphere.
John Mayer reveals finger injury
Mayer explained that he injured his finger last Thursday, and the first thing that went through his mind was “I really need that finger in a week.” He added that his left index finger is the “team captain” of his fretting hand, but it will heal just fine, albeit out of commission for a while.
Despite the setback, Mayer has been practicing guitar using his other three fingers and claims to have it sounding “pretty good.” He also expressed his responsibility to return to the stage each night without disappointing his fans.
