Klopp’s Protégé Clears the Air: No Beef with the Boss, Just a New Crush on Slot

Curtis Jones Sets the Record Straight on His Comments About Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot

Liverpool star Curtis Jones has clarified his recent comments about being “happiest” under new manager Arne Slot, stating that he meant no disrespect to former boss Jurgen Klopp.

In a recent interview, Jones expressed his gratitude towards Klopp, saying, “I love him, I love all of his staff. He knows how much I appreciate him… He’s given me the platform and belief in myself to know I’m a kid who can step up as well.”

Jones’ initial comments about being happier under Slot had sparked controversy, with some interpreting them as a slight against Klopp. However, the young midfielder has now set the record straight, explaining that he was simply referring to the change in playing style under Slot.

“The principles are always the same; we want to work hard, press, dominate teams. That’s what I think came across a little bit wrong,” Jones said. “I’d like to say now on this, I’ve seen things that it seemed like I was disrespectful in a way. But Jurgen knows I’d never be that kid.”

Jones has been praised for his honesty and maturity in addressing the situation. His comments come on the heels of Liverpool’s 2-1 pre-season win over Arsenal, which saw the Reds dominate possession and create numerous scoring opportunities.

Under Slot, Jones is hoping to nail down a consistent place in the starting XI, something he struggled to achieve under Klopp. With 133 appearances for the Reds, Jones is eager to prove himself as a key player in the team.

Slot’s tactics have been hailed as a breath of fresh air for Liverpool, with the team’s new style of play focusing on possession football and breaking down opponents with sustained pressure.

Jones’ clarification of his comments is a welcome development, as it clears up any potential misunderstandings and allows fans to focus on the exciting football on display under Slot.
