Haaland’s ‘Stolen’ Strike Sparks Fury: City Fans Cry Foul in Barca Thriller

Manchester City Fans Fume as Erling Haaland’s Goal is Disallowed in Pre-Season Clash with Barcelona

Manchester City fans are outraged after Erling Haaland was denied a goal in their pre-season match against Barcelona, with many claiming the Norwegian striker was “robbed” of a legitimate score.

The match, which ended in a 2-2 draw before Barcelona won 4-1 on penalties, saw Haaland’s shot appear to cross the line before being cleared by goalkeeper Inaki Pena. However, with no goal-line technology in place, the goal was not given.

Fans took to social media to express their frustration, with many calling for the introduction of goal-line technology in pre-season matches. “How did it happen? ROBBED us our goal!!! Oscar Bobb assist to Erling Haaland,” wrote one fan.

Others were more sarcastic, with one Manchester United fan tweeting, “Yeah we miss VAR and goal-line technology.” Despite the controversy, City fans remained optimistic, with one commenting, “That was completely in for a second, pre-season shenanigans.”

The match saw City come from behind twice, with Pau Victor and Pablo Torre scoring for Barcelona, and Nico O’Reilly and Jack Grealish responding for City. In the penalty shootout, Kalvin Phillips and Jacob Wright were the unlucky ones to have their efforts saved.

Amar Fatah did convert his penalty, but it was not enough as City fell to a 4-1 shootout loss. Despite the defeat, City fans were left fuming over the disallowed goal, with many calling for goal-line technology to be introduced in pre-season matches.
