A recent court hearing regarding Shiloh Jolie-Pitt’s petition to drop “Pitt” from her legal surname has been rescheduled due to an administrative error, according to her legal representative.
This development comes nearly two months after Shiloh, the 18-year-old daughter of Hollywood power couple Angelina Jolie, 49, and Brad Pitt, 60, expressed her intention to modify her surname following her 18th birthday on May 27.
Peter Levine, Shiloh’s attorney, stated that the court was unable to complete the necessary background check ahead of the scheduled hearing, resulting in the rescheduling of the hearing for August 19.
Levine explained that every individual requesting a name change must undergo a background check conducted by the court clerk, and due to a clerical error, Shiloh’s hearing has been postponed to a later date.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, who have been finalizing their divorce since their 2016 separation, are also parents to Maddox, 22, Zahara, 19, Pax, 20, Knox, 15, and Vivienne, 15.
In June, a source close to Pitt revealed that the Oscar-winning actor was aware and upset about Shiloh’s decision to drop his surname, stating that it’s a painful reminder of his lost relationships with his children.
Shiloh published a statement in the Los Angeles Times earlier this month, declaring her intention to change her legal name from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie, as permitted by state law.
Prior to a judge approving the name change petition, a legal form must be published in a newspaper a month ahead, according to state regulations.
An insider revealed that Shiloh hired her own lawyer and paid for it herself, without her mother’s knowledge or involvement, suggesting that the name change may be connected to the abuse allegations against Pitt.
In 2016, Jolie accused Pitt of physically abusing her and their children during a private jet flight, which led to an FBI investigation.
