Ben Doak Weighs Up Loan Move Amid Interest from Leicester and Southampton

According to sources, Liverpool’s talented Scottish winger Ben Doak is considering a loan move this summer, with newly-promoted Leicester and Southampton among several clubs interested in securing his services.

Doak, 18, joined Liverpool from Celtic for around £600,000 two years ago and has been impressing with his pace and directness on the wing. However, with the likes of Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, and Diogo Jota yet to feature in Liverpool’s pre-season, Doak may struggle to get regular game time.

He played in the second half of Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Real Betis in Pittsburgh on Friday night and also started a behind-closed-doors match against Preston a week earlier. However, Mohamed Salah and Fabio Carvalho started the Betis match out wide, and Arne Slot sees Carvalho as a winger despite his previous experience as a No 10 on loan at Hull City.

Leicester and Southampton are among several clubs keen on signing Liverpool’s Ben Doak

Doak will sit down with Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes after the pre-season tour to discuss his options. The tour includes games against Arsenal and Manchester United, and Doak’s decision will depend on whether he wants to stay and fight for his place or seek more regular game time on loan.

The Scottish winger has been described as a ‘Tasmanian devil’ by Reds skipper Virgil van Dijk, and his direct style has impressed many. He made his Premier League debut last season, becoming Liverpool’s youngest opening-day player since Michael Owen.

However, his season was cut short by injury when he tore his lateral meniscus playing for the Under 21s. He also suffered another setback that ruled him out of the European Championship.

With several clubs interested in his services, Doak’s decision will be crucial in shaping his future. Will he stay and fight for his place at Liverpool, or seek more regular game time on loan?
