Former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys has responded to critics on social media, denying that his ex-wife was “terminally ill” when he left her for his current partner, Lucie Rose.
Keys, 66, tied the knot with 35-year-old Lucie in a £20,000 ceremony in Devon last year, after previously denying rumors of an affair with her while his ex-wife Julia was battling cancer.
The controversy resurfaced when Keys posted a tribute to a former Sky Sports colleague who had passed away, prompting one user to comment: “A comment about class when you cheated on your terminally ill misses with your daughter’s friend has some sort of irony, doesn’t it, gorilla hands.”

Ex-Sky sports presenter Richard Keys hit back at critics on X denying his wife, who divorced him in 2016, was ‘terminally ill’, demanding that ‘it’s time for this nonsense to stop’
Keys responded to the criticism, saying: “You guys have no idea. Terminally ill? She’s still here – Alive and Kicking. Behave yourself. It’s time for this nonsense to stop.”
Another user claimed to have seen Keys’ ex-wife Julia at a therapy clinic, prompting Keys to reply: “One of the unwritten rules of therapy, of course, is that you don’t ever break confidences. But you do.”
Keys’ marriage to Julia ended in 2016 after 36 years, with Julia citing his alleged infidelity as the reason for their divorce. Keys has always denied leaving his wife while she was fighting cancer.
In 2023, Keys married Lucie Rose, 32 years his junior, in a £20,000 ceremony in Devon. The wedding was not attended by Keys’ daughter Jemma or son Joshua.
Keys has previously denied leaving his wife for Lucie, telling The Athletic in 2019: “I’ll mention the unmentionable for you. Did I leave my wife fighting cancer? No.”

Keys, who still lives in Doha, Qatar, where he works for beIN as a presenter married Lucie Rose at a £20,000 ceremony in Devon in 2023 – neither his son or daughter were in attendance
Keys’ ex-wife Julia has written about his affair in her book The MANScript, describing how it “devastated” her and their children.
Keys still lives in Doha, where he works as a presenter for beIN, alongside Andy Gray. He was previously a Sky Sports presenter but left the network after a recording of derogatory comments he made about female assistant referee Sian Massey was leaked.
