Los Angeles FC is considering a stunning move for Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann, who is entering the last year of his contract with the Spanish giants.
If the deal goes through, it would be a significant coup for LAFC, outdoing MLS rivals and David Beckham-owned Inter Miami.
Griezmann, 33, has long been interested in playing in the United States and has been the subject of interest from several MLS clubs.
According to French daily L’Equipe, Griezmann was likely to reunite with former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez in Florida, but LAFC’s bold move has thrown that into doubt.

Griezmann’s contract with Atletico Madrid expires in June 2025, and he would be able to leave as a free agent.
For MLS clubs interested, Griezmann wouldn’t come at an extravagant cost, with a relatively low release clause of £8.4 million ($11 million).
LAFC has already brought major European talent to the BMO Stadium, including Hugo Lloris and Oliver Giroud, who have both left European leagues to join the MLS side.

Griezmann has been clear about his love for American sports and envisions himself playing in the States. Last year, he said: ‘My target is to end up there. With everything that I like about American sports, playing in MLS and enjoying myself, being able to win things and be at my best level.’
Will LAFC be able to pull off this stunning move and bring Griezmann to the US?
