A former Arsenal midfielder has stunned fans by revealing his new passion – gardening. The 33-year-old, who hung up his boots last year after helping Luton Town secure promotion to the Premier League, has traded in his football cleats for a lawn mower.
Instead of seeking out a new club, the ex-Gunner decided to pursue a career in gardening, showcasing his impressive lawn on his Instagram page, “The Lawn Lad.” The former England Under-21 international began his career at Arsenal, where he was a highly-rated youngster, before moving on to play for Nottingham Forest and other clubs.
Now, he’s taken to social media to show off his latest piece of work, featuring a beautifully manicured lawn. The video, captioned “Grass coming back to life,” showcases the impressive results of his hard work, with the fertiliser “Grass Gains” also tagged.
Henri Lansbury, the former midfielder in question, has been open about his new passion, revealing that he was inspired to create a new formula for fertiliser after working on the pitches in Monaco. He’s now determined to take his work across Europe, giving back to local clubs by providing them with top-notch pitches.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Lansbury explained how his journey into gardening began during the first lockdown, when he started to take an interest in organic fertilisers. “I want to give back to the local clubs really, I want them to have a nice pitch to play on,” he said. “There’s nothing better than a kid running on a pitch with stripes on it, and that’s what it does, it helps stripe it off.”
