Meghan Markle was recently spotted socializing with actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley in Montecito, California.
Photos show Markle, 42, and Williams-Paisley, 52, exiting the Italian restaurant Tre Lune on Sunday, July 21. Although the exact nature of their acquaintance remains unclear, both women share an alma mater in Northwestern University. (Markle graduated in 2003, a decade after Williams-Paisley earned her degree.)
For their casual lunch outing, Markle donned a crisp white button-down shirt and jeans, while Williams-Paisley opted for a blue button-down dress paired with tennis shoes.
This social engagement comes on the heels of Markle’s attendance at the 2024 ESPY Awards, where her husband, Prince Harry, received the Pat Tillman Award for Service. Harry, 39, was recognized for his 10 years of service in the British Armed Forces and his work with the Invictus Games, a sports tournament for injured or wounded veterans and military personnel.
Harry’s acceptance speech acknowledged Mary Tillman, Pat Tillman’s mother, who had questioned the decision to award him the honor. Harry expressed his respect for Mary’s advocacy for her son’s legacy, emphasizing that the award belonged to the Invictus Games Foundation and the thousands of veterans and service personnel it represents.
Speaking about the Invictus Games, Harry highlighted the event’s ability to bring people together from all over the world, creating a sense of community and mutual respect among athletes from different nations. He also referenced the military expression “Leave no one behind,” which he believes Pat Tillman and his comrades embodied.
Markle supported her husband during the ceremony, where they opted not to walk the red carpet. Instead, they sat together inside during the monologue, which was delivered by Markle’s friend and host Serena Williams.
Williams jokingly addressed the royal couple, saying, “Prince Harry and Meghan are here, let’s give it up for them. But please, Harry and Meghan, try not to breathe too much tonight because this is my night. And I don’t want to be overshadowed by the accusations that you two are taking up too much oxygen.”
