**Manchester United Embark on Pre-Season Tour Amid Job Cut Uncertainty**
Manchester United are set to depart for their pre-season tour of the United States on Wednesday, leaving behind hundreds of anxious staff members who are uncertain about their job security. In a series of meetings on Tuesday, employees were informed about which departments and individuals are at risk of redundancy, with up to 250 job cuts expected as part of a cost-cutting drive.
**Redundancy Process Accelerates**
The club’s co-owners, Ineos, have been implementing a redundancy process since last week, with affected staff members already notified. The process is expected to accelerate in the coming weeks, with nearly a quarter of the workforce at risk of losing their jobs.
**Travelling Party Departs for California**
A travelling party of around 125, including the playing and coaching staff, will fly to California on Wednesday for the three-game tour, which includes matches against Arsenal, Real Betis, and Liverpool. The tour comes amid an ongoing redundancy process, which has contributed to low morale at the club.
**Cost-Cutting Measures**
The cost-cutting drive is aimed at saving up to £10m per year, which will be invested in the football operation and infrastructure. The club’s chief operating officer, Collette Roche, explained that the restructuring is necessary for long-term success, stating, “We continue to restructure the club to ensure we have the right people in the right roles for long-term success.”
**Job Cuts Necessary for Success**
Roche added, “Significant transformation is required to meet the challenges we face to be successful on and off the pitch. We believe greater efficiency can lead to better outcomes.” The club has conducted a wide-scale cost review, which recommended that a significant amount of cuts are needed at United.
**Transfer News**
Meanwhile, Manchester United are interested in Bayern Munich right-back Noussair Mazraoui, but only if they can sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer. Wan-Bissaka, who is in the final year of his contract at Old Trafford, has been linked with West Ham and Galatasaray.
