Tottenham Hotspur Hand New Shirt Numbers to Two Fan-Favourites

  • Tottenham Hotspur have given new squad numbers to two fan-favourites ahead of their pre-season tour to Asia
  • Manager Ange Postecoglou has fielded a youthful squad so far in pre-season

By Matthew Mcevoy

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed two new squad numbers ahead of the 2024-25 season, with two fan-favourites changing shirts. Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has been handed the No. 1 jersey, trading it for the No. 13 he wore last season, while left-back Destiny Udogie has swapped his No. 38 jersey for his favoured No. 13.

Vicario’s change signifies his firm grip on the role, having sealed his place as first-choice shot-stopper with impressive performances across the season. The Italian international joined Tottenham at the beginning of the 2023-24 season, having been signed on a five-year contract from Serie A side Empoli.

Udogie, another Italian international, has become a firm fan-favourite for his ownership of the left-back position. The 21-year-old has impressed with his pace, range of passing, and ball-carrying ability since making his debut for Spurs. Despite suffering injuries through the season, Udogie has been a key player for the team.
