Former tennis star Ana Ivanovic has opened up about her relationship with husband Bastian Schweinsteiger, revealing the one thing she refuses to let him do.
The couple, who have been married for eight years and have three young sons, have a playful and competitive dynamic. Ivanovic, 36, revealed that she won’t let Schweinsteiger, 39, win at tennis, no matter how hard he tries.
The German football legend, who won the 2014 World Cup with Germany, has a strong competitive spirit, but Ivanovic is determined to come out on top on the tennis court. “He really fights to win,” she told German outlet Bild. “But I won’t let him win!”
Schweinsteiger joked about his loss, saying, “She lets me run! From left to right, from front to back – it’s brutal. I never thought that there was no chance for me. I lost 1:6, 2:6.”
The couple’s playful banter is a testament to their strong and loving relationship. They met in 2014 and got married two years later, with Ivanovic retiring from tennis in 2016.
However, Schweinsteiger risked getting into trouble with his wife during the European Championships when he made a comment about Cristiano Ronaldo’s girlfriend, Georgina Rodriguez. While working as a pundit on German TV, Schweinsteiger was shown a clip of Ronaldo’s son celebrating his 14th birthday, and he couldn’t help but notice Rodriguez’s outfit.
As he watched the video, Schweinsteiger told the presenter, “There’s something going on with them.” The presenter quickly realized that Schweinsteiger was distracted by something other than the presents being given out and sighed, “Oh, Basti… On the jersey. On the jersey of the German national team.”
